-- The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team earned a place on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squads list for the 2023-24 academic year, the Association announced today, July 24. The selection marked the second consecutive year Eastern has made the list.

To earn placement on the list, a team must sport a 3.20 or higher cumulative team grade-point average for the academic year with the Eagles carrying a 3.738 GPA, one of the highest among all EMU teams. Eastern is one of 325 women's lacrosse programs nationally across NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA to earn the honor this year.

Eastern saw 14 of its student-athletes earn individual academic honors this year, led by Mackenzie Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) and Avery Schwab (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin-Scioto), both of whom were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team by carrying a 3.50 or higher GPA and appearing in more than 80% of their team's competitions. The duo were joined by 12 teammates that were named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) team, including: Abby Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent), Amber Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent), Caitlin Beahm (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North), Samantha Borgert (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeast), Gina D'Alessio (Ft. Pierce, Fla./Vero Beach), Kelsea Dague (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), Kyleigh Dill (Dover, Del./Dover), Tracy Grollman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School), Skylar Hilmer (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry), Haley Hodak (Severn, Md./Old Mill), Sydney Lawrence (Plano, Texas/Plano East/Oregon), and Annika Wozney (Elk River, Minn./Elk River).

The third season of Eastern Michigan lacrosse gets underway in September with the return of Fall Ball Play Dates with a schedule of competitions set to be released later this summer. Those competitions will lead up to the start of the 2025 season in mid February.
