Swimming & Diving Earns Scholar All-America Award from CSCAA

The Eagles' 3.780 semester GPA ranked inside the top-10 of all teams named on the list for the second consecutive semester

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Swimming & Diving program has earned the Scholar All-America award from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 2024 spring semester, marking the Eagles' 22nd time garnering the award, the organization announced, June 24.
 
To qualify for this prestigious recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during the Spring 2024 semester. Of the selected teams, an impressive 563 achieved a GPA of 3.30 or above.
 
The honor marks the second consecutive semester the Eagles have posted a cumulative semester grade point average that ranks inside the top-10 of all Division I teams named to the list. Most recently, the squad notched a 3.780 GPA in the spring semester, marking a program record while serving as the highest cumulative team GPA on campus.
 
Previously, five swimming & diving student-athletes (Savannah FiskAshley George (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South)Camryn HughesRebekah Knapp (Mesa, Ariz./Skyline), Ali Kudo (Guelph, Ontario/John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational)  earned the Academic All-District Award from College Sports Communicators (CSC), an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom, April 2.
 
In the following weeks, the Mid-American Conference released its Academic All-MAC selection for the 2023-24 season, revealing 15 Eagles on the list, April 17.
 
Eight EMU swimmers qualified for the prestigious honor as Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario/Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute)George, Abbey Whipple, Kudo, Katie Shoen, Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East)Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline), and Madelyn Sursi (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) each made the cut.
 
Seven Eastern divers were also named to the list, with Hughes, Ciara Wheeler (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston)Tierney Fraidenburg, Keira Veltigian, Knapp, Cate Migliori (Santa Clara, Calif./San Joaquin Delta College), and Fisk garnered the award.
