GREENWOOD, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving student-athletes Savannah Fisk, Ashley George, Camryn Hughes, Rebekah Knapp, and Ali Kudo were tabbed Academic All-District honorees by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The organization announced today, April 2.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Women's Swimming & Diving teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The accolade marks the second of Hughes' career, as she was named to the prestigious list last season. With the honor, Hughes becomes just the third Eagle in program history to garner the award twice. Previously, former Eagle greats, Madeline Pilchard and Sarah Chrzanowski each earned the award in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. For Fisk, George, Knapp, and Kudo, the accolade marks the first of their respective careers. Overall, the Eagles have seen 13 student-athletes make the list in program history.
Each Eagle boasts at least a 3.75 GPA, with Hughes (London, Ontario/Sire Frederick Banting Secondary) and George (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) holding perfect 4.00 marks in the classroom. For Knapp (Mesa, Ariz./Skyline), her nod comes after recording Eastern's highest placing at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, Feb. 28-March 2, as she grabbed a second-place finish in the 3m dive, scoring 301.15 points.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 23, 2024.
