BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Marcus Kemp led a small group of the Eastern Michigan University men's track distance team as he ran a conference-best time (3:40.92) for a first-place finish in the 1,500m at the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University at the Robert C. Haugh Complex Friday, May 3.

» The Eagles recorded one first-place finish and one top-three placing, along with two outdoor personal-bests and one program top-10 performance.
How it Happened
Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario/St. Mary's Kitchener) topped all competitors in the 1,500m invite as he finished in 3:40.92. Kemp's time currently stands as the best in the conference after topping his 3:42.77 at the Wake Forest Invitational, April 19, and ranks inside the top-50 nationally at No. 45. Additionally, his time landed him at No. 4 in the program top-10, while marking a personal-best.
Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) led the way for the Eagles' In the 800m invite. He crossed the finish line in a personal-best 1:48.90 for a third-place finish. Wiles' time ranks as the second-best in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) to his teammate, Ronnie Brandal's (Huron, Ohio/Huron) 1:48.47 that he ran at the Jim Click Invitational, April 5. Brandal placed fourth in Friday's meet, finishing in 1:48.91.
