All three student-athletes were named Academic All-Mid-American Conference one day earlier

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Three Eastern Michigan University tennis student-athletes have earned placement on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the national organization announced today, May 15. The three Eagles earning recognition included Sabina Brichackova (Cheb, Czech Republic/Gymnázium Jana Blahoslava), Andrea Quiroz (Lima, Peru/La Molina 1278/Alcorn State), and Prerna Vichare (Mumbai, India/Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics), all of whom were recognized as Academic All-Mid-America Conference honorees one day earlier.

The accolades mark the first three earned from CSC, formerly CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), by members of the EMU program since tennis was separated from the At-Large category ahead of the 2022-23 academic year. The honors bring the program's total to four from CSC as Vanessa Frankowski was named Academic All-District Second Team At-Large following the 2008 season for the program's first honor attained.

Brichackova, a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, finished her junior season with 26 total victories and was part of two MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors with freshman Ksyusha Saenko (Voronezh, Russia/Gymnasium 2) as the duo clinched the doubles point at Miami University, March 17, for the first time since 2016 before claiming the point in a 4-3 upset of the University of Toledo that snapped the Rockets' 18-match MAC win streak. She also clinched the team win with her win at No. 6 singles, including securing the deciding point in the win over Western Michigan University, April 19, to cap a perfect 11-0 home record for the Eagles in 2024.

Qurioz posted 19 wins in singles play and added 16 more in doubles action for 35 combined wins, the third-most on the roster in 2023-24. Her strong performances throughout the season helped her improve her singles win total by 16 over the 2022-23 season as she clinched the team victory three times, including MAC matches with Ball State University (March 22) and at Bowling Green State University (April 21) for the team's lone road win in 2024. She also helped capture the doubles points in both of those conference matches.

Vichare added 20 more wins to her tally as an Eagle, bringing her career total to 70, including 43 doubles wins, which leaves her 15 shy of reaching the program's all-time top 20 list. During her junior season, clinched a trio of team wins with her victories in singles play, including the home wins over both Northern Illinois University (March 29) and WMU (April 19). In doubles play, she teamed with Daniella Shved (Holon, Israel/Ort Holon) to clinch the doubles point five times and won their match at No. 1 doubles at Toledo in the MAC Tournament before EMU captured the doubles point in its first MAC appearance since 2018.

The Eagles completed the 2023-24 season May 2 at the MAC Tournament where they fell to top-seeded and host Toledo, 4-2, in the semifinals. The tournament appearance marked the first for Eastern since the 2018 event. Eastern, who finished tied for third in the MAC standings, compiled a 12-11 overall record on the year, including a perfect 11-0 home record, the first unblemished mark since the 2003-04 campaign (8-0). Additionally, after winning the doubles point as a team four times in 2022-23, the Eagles captured the point 13 times in 2023-24.
