The newly appointed head coach spoke to the media Tuesday, April 2

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Sahar Nusseibeh, who was announced as the Eastern Michigan University head women's basketball coach, Thursday, March 28, spoke publicly with members of the media for the first time Tuesday, April 2, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. During her time with the media, she not only was given the chance to formally introduce herself and her vision for the EMU women's basketball team, but was also given the platform to answer any of the media's questions.

The morning started with Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee contributing his thoughts and remarks on Nusseibeh's hiring process before turning the mic over to the new "kid" in town, who was surprised with a custom made Eastern Michigan basketball jersey that read "NUSSEIBEH" on the back, along with the number nine representing the ninth EMU women's basketball coach in program history.

After a quick photo shoot with the jersey, Nusseibeh continued with her opening remarks as well as her thank you's before getting into the "meat" of the press conference, which was her mantra.

"I believe that culture is lived out in every single thing that we do, every single thing that we think, and every single thing we say," said Nusseibeh. "It's the environment, it's the energy, it's seen, it's heard, and most of all, its felt," she continued. "We will live our culture at all times. It will be who we are".

A rising star with three seasons of experience as a Division I head coach, Nusseibeh is looking forward to entering this new chapter of her life with a mantra that has stuck with her for quite some time now. According to Nusseibeh, "there are six words that will encapsulate Eastern Michigan Women's Basketball: Feet In. Arms Out. Eyes Up.," which she explained in depth.

The conclusion of Tuesday's press conference saw Nusseibeh interact on a one-on-one basis with members of the press prior to a sit-down, more "personal" type of interview with the voice of EMU, Tom Helmer, which is scheduled to be released in the upcoming week.

Following the conclusion of her media responsibilities, Nusseibeh took in her first session with the current members of the program as the Eagles partook in a 'light workout'.

Fans are encouraged to keep their eyes on EMUEagles.com and the team's social media handles @EMUWBB for all the latest updates on the program, including future announcements about Nusseibeh's coaching staff, additions to the roster, and season ticket information.
