Almighty Williamson Named MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

The award marks Williamson's third of his career, and second of the season.
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men's track and field student-athlete Almighty Williamson was tabbed the Mid-American Conference's (MAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, Wednesday, March 27.
The accolade marks Williamson's (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor/Barton C.C.) third of his career and second this season as the hurdler previously garnered the award, Dec. 6, after running the 60m hurdles in 7.90 at the Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Open, hosted by SVSU, Dec. 1-2.
Williamson ran his best race of the outdoor season in the 100 hurdles at the Clyde Hart Classic, hosted by Baylor University, March 22-23. Williamson crossed the finish line in 13.85 for a second-place finish, a time that stands as the fastest in the MAC and 20th-best nationally. Additionally, Williamson's 13.85 is 0.78 seconds faster than the second-fastest time in the MAC (14.62).
With the award, the graduate student is the only Eagle to accomplish the feat multiple times so far this season, and the first to earn it twice in the same season since his teammate Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France/Lycée Honoré d'Estiennes d'Orves/American International) did so twice last season, Jan. 25, March 22.
Williamson joins a recent list of elite Eagles with Taige Bryant, Baldvin Magnusson, and Newlyn Stephenson, all of which earned the award at least three times in their respective EMU tenures.
