Eagles Prep for Baylor's Clyde Hart Classic

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs will compete at the Clyde Hart Classic, hosted by Baylor University at the Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium in Waco, Texas, Friday-Saturday, March 22-23.

The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT (12 p.m. ET) both days. Last Time Out: at UCF Black & Gold Invitational
The Eagles opened their 2024 outdoor season securing six top-10 program marks and 33 personal-best total in central Florida, Friday-Saturday, March 15-16.
How it Happened - Friday
Claire Allen (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) highlighted the performance from the Eastern women Friday as she placed eighth in the shot put with a personal-best heave of 14.27m (46-09.80), the eight best mark in outdoor program history.
Fleur van der Linden (Drunen, Netherlands/d'Oultremont College) also earned a spot on the outdoor program top-10 as she vaulted an outdoor personal-best, 3.80m (12-05.60), for a fifth-place finish.
Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) had a strong showing in the 200m dash, finishing 14th out of 91 competitors in a personal-best time (23.76). Kayla Muir (Ida, Mich./Ida/Stautzenberger College) placed fifth in the 2,000m steeplechase in a personal-best 7:35.11.
The women's long jump was a strong showing on the first day, as all three Eagles placed inside the top-20 with Antonia Woods (Winchester, Ohio/Groveport Madison) leading the way, placing seventh with a career-best bound of 5.93m (19-05.50). She was followed by Kyra Buffen (Columbus, Ga./Buford/Benedict) in 11th (5.72m (18-09.20), and Nyla Joseph-Guevara (Coral Springs, Fla./Fort Lauderdale) in 19th (5.55m (18-02.50).
For the men, Gabe Singh (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Northview/Oakland) took Eastern's top spot of the meet on Friday's action, finishing second in the 400m hurdles in 52.43.
Eric Haddock Jr. (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh/Appalachian State) and Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France/Lycée Honoré d'Estiennes d'Orves/American International) had strong showings in the long jump, as they placed fifth and sixth, leaping 7.33m (24-00.60), and 7.31m (23-11.80), respectively.
How it Happened – Saturday
Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) started Eastern's women off strong Saturday with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw, tossing the hammer 54.61m (179-02.00).
Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) set a top-10 and personal-best mark in the high jump, leaping 1.73m (05-08.00) on her way to a fourth-place finish.
Buffen led Eastern's female triple jumpers, finishing sixth with an outdoor personal-best bound of 12.38m (40-07.50), cracking the program top-10 at No.9.
Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School/Tayelolu Memorial) set an outdoor personal-best in the 400m dash, coming in at ninth in 55.00.
Saturday's men's performances were led by the freshmen throwing duo of Ryan Johnson (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) and Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive), who placed third and fourth in the hammer throw, tossing the hammer 64.62m (217-07.00), and 58.91m (193-03.00), respectively. Johnson's toss goes down as the third-best in program history, and McEachern's marks the seventh-best.
In the high jump, Ousman Kamara (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) placed fourth with a jump of 2.06m (06-09.00). Along with Singh, Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor/Barton C.C.) captured the Eagles' highest finish of the meet as he slotted second in the 110m hurdles in 13.84.
Callum Robinson (Goderich, Ontario/St. Anne's Catholic Secondary/Simon Fraser) had a strong outdoor debut as he set an outdoor personal-best, taking bronze in the 400m dash in a personal-best 47.02.
