Lacrosse Voted Fourth in MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Eagles will look to finish fourth or better to earn a spot in the MAC Tournament in May
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team has been voted to finish fourth in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced today, Feb. 6. The Eagles, who are preparing for their second varsity season, were selected to finish tied for sixth one year ago ahead of their inaugural season.
According to the voting, the 2024 season looks to be a tightly contested race to the crown with the top three teams separated by five points. Kent State University leads the way with 33 points and three first-place votes while Central Michigan University, last year's tournament champion, is one point behind with 32 and three first-place votes. Robert Morris University rounds out the top three with 28 points and one first-place vote. All three teams received votes to be crowned the tournament champion as well with both KSU and CMU earning three votes and RMU one.
Eastern sits fourth in the poll with 16 points, a position that would place them in the MAC Tournament later this year. Youngstown State University and the University of Akron are tied for fifth with 13 points while the University of Detroit Mercy sits seventh with 12 points.
The regular season champion will play host to the four-team MAC Tournament with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles will lift the lid on the 2024 campaign Friday against No. 7 University of Notre Dame in a 7:30 p.m. start inside the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Ind.
