Eastern Michigan Tops Central State, 85-63, in Exhibition

Henry scores 21, Nelson nets 18 to lead EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team won by a score of 85-63 against Central State University Wednesday, Oct. 30 in an exhibition game at the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
Christian Henry (Chicago, Ill./The Skill Factory/Panola College) led Eastern with 21 points while Da'Sean Nelson (Toledo, Ohio/Robert S. Rogers/Kilgore College/DePaul) added 18 points.
How it Happened
Eastern Michigan got off to a slow start, trailing 20-17 in the first 10 minutes of the game. CSU led by as many as seven points with nine minutes left in the first half.
The game would turn around after that point, as the Eagles went on a 32-16 run led by transfer point guard Henry's 18 points and two assists in the first half resulting in the Eagles leading 49-36 at the break.
Eastern's ability to get it done on both sides of the court and capitalize on CSU's mistakes was prevalent as they scored 38 points off of 25 turnovers compared to Central State's seven.
After that, the Eagles extended their lead to 20 points at the 10-minute mark, 66-46.
The Eagles would keep a steady lead for the remainder of the game to win, 85-63.
Jalen Billingsley (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East/Georgetown) made the most of his time on the court going 6-for-6 from the field, scoring 13 total points in his 12 minutes on the floor.

» Henry's 21-point performance was highlighted by a 4-for-8 showing from three-point range.
» Nelson was an impressive 9-for-12 from the field.
» Jalin Billingsley had 13 points for Eastern Michigan in the win over Central State while making all six of shots from the field. Billingsley had 11 games in double figures last season.
» Yusuf Jihad (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington/Oakland) scored 10 points. Jihad had 10 of these games in the 2023-24 season.
» Freshmen duo Dillon Tingler (Hurricane, W. Va./Huntington Expression Prep) and Godslove Nwabude (Anambra State, Nigeria/Mt. Zion Prep) made valuable contributions off the bench both scoring five points.
