Eagles host Siena Heights Friday, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m.

SAN MARCOS, Texas (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell at Texas State University in the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Challenge Monday, Nov. 4, by a 64-44 decision in the season opener at Strahan Arena.

Christian Henry (Chicago, Ill./The Skill Factory/Panola College) led Eastern with 17 points and a team-high three steals.

How it Happened
Texas State started fast, building an early 7-2 advantage, ultimately building a 35-22 lead after 20 minutes.

The Bobcats continued to limit the Eagle offensive attack as the hosts built a lead as large as 28 points with 9:44 remaining.

Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 0-1 overall while Texas State moved to 1-0 overall.
» Eastern Michigan was 17-of-58 (29.3%) from the floor and 5-of-24 (20.8%) from three-point range while Texas State was 20-of-48 (41.7%) from the field and 7-of-15 (46.7%) from deep.
» Jalen Terry (Flint, Mich./Beecher/Oregon/DePaul) added seven points with team-highs in rebounds (7) and assists (5). His five assists are the most by an Eagle in a season opener since Noah Morgan also had five against Siena Heights, Nov. 8, 2019.
» Jalen Billingsley (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran East/Georgetown) had eight points while matching Terry's team-high with seven rebounds. Billingsley had a career-high six offensive rebounds.
» In addition to Terry, Da'Sean Nelson (Toledo, Ohio/Robert S. Rogers/Kilgore College/DePaul), Trey Pettigrew (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy/Nevada), Julian Lewis (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron/William & Mary/Miami), John Shanu II (Houston, Texas/Sam Houston/Old Dominion/UTRGV), Dillon Tingler (Hurricane, W. Va./Huntington Expression Prep) and Godslove Nwabude (Anambra State, Nigeria/Mt. Zion Prep) all made their Eagle debuts.

Historical Notes
» EMU played Texas State for the first time in program history.
» The Eagles move to 1-2 overall in the MAC-SBC Challenge with their win coming Nov. 11, 2023, over Georgia Southern.
» Eastern, which hit five threes against Texas State, has now hit at least one triple in 614-straight games. EMU last failed to score from downtown Jan. 24, 2004, when Miami University held the Eagles to 0-of-7 from behind the arc. The Eagles have converted multiple three-pointers in 36-straight contests, not having done so most recently in a 1-for-15 performance against Akron, Feb.14, 2023.
