YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's basketball head coach Billy Donlon announced the addition of Cameron Carter to his coaching staff as an assistant coach Friday, Oct. 2.
Carter joins the Eagles after spending the 2025-26 season as a program assistant with the North Texas men's basketball program. His responsibilities with the Mean Green included video coordination, player development and assisting the coaching staff with scouting. Prior to his time at North Texas, Carter served as a graduate assistant at the University of Missouri.
"Cam has been at Missouri and North Texas and made significant contributions to those programs' success," Donlon said. "Cam comes from a basketball family. His dad, David, is one of the most respected coaches in our profession. We are excited to have Cam join our family."
A native of Reno, Nevada, Carter spent four seasons as a student-athlete at Cal State Fullerton from 2019-23 before beginning his coaching career. The 6-foot-2 guard appeared in 12 games during his four-year career with the Titans, including three appearances during his senior season in 2022-23. He scored a career-high three points against San Diego Christian on Dec. 19, 2022.
Carter graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2023 after earning his degree in business. Prior to his collegiate career, he attended Damonte Ranch High School in Reno, where he earned first-team all-league honors as a junior and senior and was named team captain and team MVP as a senior.
Carter's path into coaching follows a family tradition. His father, David Carter, has more than 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 24 years at the Division I level. David Carter spent six seasons as the head coach at Nevada and has also coached at Saint Mary's, Washington, Eastern Washington, Georgia and San Diego.
