Cross Country Set to Host EMU Fall Classic

The meet will be held at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. The men's race will start at 4:30 p.m. and the women's will begin at 5 p.m.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University cross country programs are set to conclude the regular season Friday, Oct. 25, when it will host the EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in nearby Dexter, Mich.
Both the men's and women's teams will be racing the 5k. The men's race is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. and the women's race will follow at 5 p.m.
The Eagles will welcome teams from Michigan, Michigan State, Oakland, and Chicago State. There will also be unattached collegiate and post-collegiate athletes in both races.

RANKED IN THE USTFCCCA REGIONAL RANKINGS
Both of Eastern Michigan's teams are ranked in the Great Lakes Region, per the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As of Oct. 21, the women are ranked No. 10 and the men stand at No. 13.
LAST TIME AT THE EMU FALL CLASSIC
Both Eastern Michigan teams last hosted the EMU Fall Classic Oct. 20, 2023. The women were led by former Eagle Destiney Rose who finished in 20:01.2 and Carson Vanderschaaf (Marquette, Mich./Marquette Senior) led the men's team who ran the distance in 16:35.4. There was no team scoring.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern Michigan last competed Friday, Oct. 18, at the Arturo Barrios Invitational and Falcon Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University and Bowling Green State University, respectively. The men came in 12th place with 395 points in Texas. They were led by Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix), who clocked a 33rd place finish in a personal-best 23:32.6. They did not score in the Falcon Invite due to only one runner participating in the race.
The women came in 11th place at Texas A&M with 326 points. They were paced by Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) who placed seventh out of 402 competitors in a personal-best 19:32.0. In Bowling Green, the Eastern women placed 10th with 261 points, led by freshman Cora Henderson (Courtice, Ontario/Courtice Secondary) who placed 50th in the women's 6k in a personal-best 23:17.1.
PERSONAL BESTS
Most recently at the Arturo Barrios and Falcon Invites, Oct. 18, the Eastern programs combined to set 16 PR's in its respective distances.
