Cross Country Set for Races at Arturo Barrios Invitational and Falcon Invite

The men will compete in the 8k while the women will do so in the 6k

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Cross Country programs are set to hit the road for two meets in one day at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M University at the Watts Cross Country Course, and the Falcon Invite, hosted by Bowling Green State University at the Mel Brodt Cross Country Course Friday, Oct. 18.
 
The men will compete in the 8k and the women will race the 6k while in each meet. In College Station, the men's race will start at 8:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. ET), while the women's race will begin at 9:15 a.m. CT (10:15 a.m. ET). In Bowling Green, the women's race will go off at 4:30 p.m. and the men's race will start at 5:10 p.m.

RANKED IN THE USTFCCCA REGIONAL RANKINGS 
Both of Eastern Michigan's teams are ranked in the Great Lakes Region, per the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As of Oct. 7, the women are ranked No. 11 and the men stand at No. 13.
 
LAST TIME AT THE ARTURO BARRIOS AND FALCON INVITES
Both Eastern Michigan teams were last at the Arturo Barrios Invitational and Falcon Invite Oct. 13, 2023. The women finished in ninth place in both meets, scoring 255 points at Texas A&M and 263 in Bowling Green. The men had 548 points at Texas A&M, placing 21st, and did not compete at the Falcon Invite.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern Michigan last competed Friday, Oct. 4, at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame. The men came in third place in the gold division 8k with 150 points, while the women placed 15th in the blue division 5k, scoring 418 points. Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) led the women with a personal best 16:44.4 time. Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) and Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) led the men, as they finished within one-tenth of one second of each other in 24:24.5, and 24:24.6, respectively. 
 
PERSONAL BESTS
Most recently at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, Oct. 4, the Eastern programs combined to set 21 PR's in its respective distances.

UP NEXT
Eastern Michigan will be back racing Friday, Oct. 25, when it will host the EMU Fall Classic at Hudson Mills Metropark in nearby Dexter, Mich.
