YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team will continue its home slate, hosting the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Sunday, Jan. 21, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
FOLLOWING THE MEET: Fans can follow the meet through live results or watch the live stream on ESPN+. Links can be found on the EMU gymnastics schedule page located on EMUEagles.com.
KEY EAGLE: Awarded after every contest, the Eastern Michigan gymnastics coaches choose one gymnast to anoint as that meet's Key Eagle. Freshman Brooke Maycroft earned the honor after the meet, with Central Michigan University, Jan. 19.
THE HOME-OPENER: EMU hosted MAC foe, Central Michigan, Friday, Jan. 19. The Eagles began their first home meet on vault where the team earned a 48.800, their highest vault score this season.
FISHING FOR A PERSONAL-BEST: Eastern Michigan was led by Alana Fisher on vault, who tied for the top spot in the event with a personal-best 9.850 score. Her previous season-best on the apparatus was a 9.675 at Minnesota, Jan. 13. However, her previous career-high score of 9.825 was set at NIU, Feb. 17, 2023. Additionally, it marked just the third time in her career the junior has earned a 9.800 or above.
IT'S A BARS KIND OF THING: On Eastern's second rotation in the duel with CMU, Jan. 19, the Eagles scored 48.725 on bars, another season high for the Green and White, topping its previous season-best score 48.475 at Minnesota, Jan. 13. Bars is the sole event EMU has consistently improved on this season, after scoring a 48.025 in the season-opener at WMU, Jan. 7.
SPEAKING OF BARS: Raisa Boris recorded a 9.825 on the bars apparatus for the top spot among Eagles. Boris tied for first in the event. It was the seniors second 9.825 of the season after doing so at WMU, Jan. 7.
EMU'S BEEN BEAMING: Eastern's third rotation took the team to the beam where the Eagles grabbed a 48.275 event score in the opener with CMU, Jan.19. Ella Chemotti earned first place overall on the apparatus where she scored a 9.900. Raisa Boris was a close second with a 9.875.
TOP-SPOT ELLA: Ella Chemotti claimed the top-spot among all gymnast on beam versus CMU, Jan. 19 with a 9.900, her second 9.900 or above score of the season and the 12th of her career on the apparatus.
RAI'S ROUTINE: Eastern Michigan finished the meet with CMU, Jan. 13, on floor with a 48.700 event score. Raisa Boris once again led the event for the Eagles with a 9.850, tying with two other Chippewas for the overall top-spot. The Minnesota native most-recently recorded a 9.900 in the season opener at WMU, Jan. 7, marking the third time in her career the senior has earned her personal-best 9.900 on floor.
THE ROOKIE, JACKIE: The Ohio native, Jacquelyn Patterson, earned a personal best against CMU, Jan. 19, when she scored a 9.750 on vault, an improvement from her previous 9.575 score in which she earned in both of her career appearances.
FIRST TIME AGAINST UW-STOUT: The Blue Devils, members of the NCAA Division III, will make their way to Ypsilanti for the first competition between EMU and UW-Stout.
IN THE RANKINGS: The Eagles are ranked 47th in the NCAA rankings as of Jan. 20, 2024. The highest EMU has been ranked in program history (started tracking in 1998) was the 2016 team that ranked 17th in the nation.
EAGLES ON ESPN: For the seventh consecutive season, the Eagles will have their home meets broadcast on ESPN+. This season, fans will be able to watch their Eagles compete in all home meets. Furthermore, the Mid-American Conference Championships, March 23, will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
ON THE HORIZON: EMU will hit the road for DeKalb, Ill., to face the Huskies of Northern Illinois University for a Mid-American Conference contest Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. CT
