YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team competed against fellow Mid-American Conference member, Central Michigan University Friday, Jan. 19, at home. The Eagles finished with a 194.500 team score behind the Chippewas' 195.825.
The Green and White recorded two event bests on vault and bars inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center, topping their two previous meets.
"It was exciting to be back competing at home," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "We started out great on vault and bars and I am excited to put it all together on Sunday!"
How It Happened
The Eagles began their first home meet on vault where the team earned a 48.800, their highest vault score this season. Eastern Michigan was led by Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) who scored a personal best with a 9.850. She tied for first with one other Chippewa.
On Eastern's second rotation, the Eagles scored 48.725 on bars, another season high for the Green and White. Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) recorded a 9.825 on the apparatus for the top spot among Eagles. Boris tied for first in the event.
EMU's third rotation took the team to the beam where the Eagles grabbed a 48.275 event score. Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) earned first place overall on the apparatus where she scored a 9.900. Boris was a close second with a 9.875.
Eastern Michigan finished the meet on floor with a 48.700 event score. Raisa Boris once again led the event for the Eagles with a 9.850, tying with two other Chippewas.
