Katin Childress, Brooke Maycroft, and Taylor Wetherbee will join the squad for the 2024 campaign
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Head Gymnastics Coach Katie Minasola announced the addition of three new student-athletes: Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas./Prosper), Brooke Maycroft (Coopersville, Mich./Coopersville), and Taylor Wetherbee (Saline, Mich./Saline) for the upcoming 2024 gymnastics season.
"I am beyond excited to add Taylor, Brooke and Katin to the signing class," mentioned Minasola. "Aside from Taylor's talent, she will bring an impeccable work ethic. Brooke is so eager and ready to grow this team and Katin will add depth to our vault and floor line-ups right away. Together, they add value to help revive this program."
Childress begins her EMU career by way of Prosper, Texas, where she competed as an all-around gymnast for Kurt Thomas Gymnastics, training under Kurt and Beckie Thomas, along with Hali Battle.
Maycroft arrives in Ypsilanti after competing at Fluent in Technique (FIT) Gymnastics Academy, training as an all-around gymnast under Erin Jarve. A native of Coopersville, Mich., Maycroft was the Level 8 All-Around Michigan State Champion, a two-time Region 5 Regional All-Around Champion, the Level 9 Michigan State Champion, and a Eastern Nationals All-Around Champion during her time at FIT Gymnastics Academy.
Wetherbee joins EMU after competing in vault, beam, and floor at Gym America in Ann Arbor, Mich., training under Claudia Kretschmer. In her time at Gym America, she earned a Character for Life Award and was named an Eastern National Qualifier in 2019. Taylor is also the daughter of Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee.
