Lacrosse Earns Three Academic All-MAC Accolades

Honors are the first earned by members of the program following its inaugural season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference announced today, June 7, its 2023 Lacrosse Academic All-MAC selections with three members of the Eastern Michigan University program earning recognition for their academic and athletic success. The trio of Eagles are among 78 student-athletes from across the conference that participated in at least 50 percent of their team's games while maintaining at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average. Student-athletes also must have completed at least one full year at their current institution to be eligible.
The list of honorees from Eastern include redshirt freshmen Tracy Grollman (Annapolis, Md.-Annapolis Area Christian School), Olivia Halverson (Hillsborough, N.J.-Hillsborough), and Avery Schwab (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Scioto). All three Eagles were on campus for the 2021-22 academic year to help start the program before games were contested this past season (2022-23 academic year) for the first time in program history. The academic honors earned by the trio are the first in program history.
Grollman appeared in all 16 games for Eastern this year and earned a place in the starting line-up 12 times. She finished third on the team in goals (19) and points (26), and was fourth in assists (7). Grollman, who scored six of her goals on free-position attempts, added 16 ground balls and three caused turnovers to her ledger as well.
A defensive stalwart, Halverson appeared in 10 games for the Eagles and earned a start in two. She recorded one ground ball and one caused turnover during the season.
Schwab also played in all 16 games and was named a starter 13 times. Tied for the team lead with 11 assists on the year, she added eight assists for 19 points in her first collegiate season. Schwab recorded 20 ground balls, which was fourth on the team, while adding three caused turnovers as well.
