ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational, Saturday, April 8, at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles competed at a trio of events last weekend as EMU traveled to the Texas Relays, as well as the Bobcat and Spartan Invitationals.
Four Eagles won events at the Spartan Invitational to lead the men's team as Newlyn Stephenson (Gary, Ind.-Thea Bowman Leadership Academy) won the hammer throw with a toss of 65.90 meters, which is the third best throw in school history.
Linus Vennemann (Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany-Gymnasium "In der Wüste") won the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:20.62) while Formula Thompson (St. Catherine, Jamaica-Jamaica College-Nebraska) won the long jump (7.33 meters) and Dahndray Holmes (Clarksville, Tenn.-Rossview Highland C.C.) won the triple jump 13.78 meters.
Eddie Zuercher (Rocky River, Ohio-Rocky River) took second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:21.65) and Marcus Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario-St. Mary's Kitchener-Providence) was second in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 1:52.60.
Drew Knieper (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion-Hope) had a personal best throw of 45.63 meters to take third in the javelin.
The Eagles would have 13 men and 10 women place in the top 10 at the Spartan Invitational.
Marta Moreno (Wassenaar, Netherlands-American School of the Hague) was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:12.40 while Nyla Joseph-Guevara (Coral Springs, Fla.-Fort Lauderdale) was second in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 11.21 meters to lead the women's team.
Isabella Brent (Dearborn Heights, Mich.-Divine Child) took third in the hammer (50.85 meters), the seventh best mark in program history.
At the Texas Relays, Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France-Lycée Honoré d'Estiennes d'Orves-American International) won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.77, the fourth-fastest time in school history while Angel Gazaway (Cincinnati, Ohio-Princeton) won the 100m hurdles at 13.58, which ranks sixth all-time in program history to lead the team as the Eagles had four top 10 finishes, three of those on the men's side.
