LEXINGTON, Ky.--(EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's track and field teams closed out the regular season at the Jim Green Invitational, April 28-29, at the University of Kentucky.
The Eagles took 29 top five finishes to highlight the two-day event with the men winning three individual championships to highlight the weekend.
Drew Knieper (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion-Hope) won the javelin (47.39 meters), Newlyn Stephenson (Gary, Ind.-Thea Bowman Leadership Academy) won the hammer (64.43 meters) and Alexander Thompson (St. Catherine Jamaica-Jamaica College-Nebraska) won the triple jump with a leap of 14.83 meters.
The men's 4x100 relay of Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor-Barton CC), Kaleb Simpson (Bexley, Ohio-St. Charles Prep), Richie Sadler (Greenville, S.C.-St. Charles Prep), Callum Robinson (Goderich, Ontario-St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School) shattered the school record with a time of 40.48 to place third.
Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne) was second in the high jump (34.50 meters), Dante Lander was second in the 400 meter hurdles (52.58) while Williamson took second in the 110 hurdles (13.92).
Payne Wylie (Elstow, Saskatchewan-Colonsay School) placed third in the 400 meter hurdles (55.43) while Alexander Thompson took third in the long jump (7.21 meters).
Wylie was fourth in the 110 hurdles (14.48).
Simpson placed fifth in both the 100 meters (10.41) and the 200 meters (21.06), Ousman Kamara (Coatesville, Pa.-Coatesville) was fifth in the high jump (1.95 meters), Dante Lander took fifth in the 110 hurdles (14.58) and Jacob Niedzwiecki was fifth in the pole vault (4.68 meters).
On the women's side, Aleah Johnson (Botkins, Ohio-Botkins) was the top women's finisher as she placed second in the discus with a personal best throw of 42.62 meters, the fifth best throw in school history.
Angel Gazaway (Cincinnati, Ohio-Princeton) placed third in the 100 hurdles with a personal best time of 13.54, the sixth best performance in school history beating her own mark of 13.58 and she placed fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:01.51.
Isabella Brent (Dearborn Heights. Mich.-Divine Child) was third in the hammer (50.65 meters), Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich.-L'anse Creuse) was third in the high jump (1.66 meters).
Nina Ward (Fairfield, Ohio-Fairfield) was fourth in the high jump (1.61 meters), Alyson Davis (Summerfield, N.C.-Weaver Academy for Performing Visual Arts) placed fourth in the 100 meters (11.84), Noriyah Johnson (Chania Greece-Second General-Abilene Christian) took fourth in the 400 meters (55.30) while Kyra Buffen (Columbus, Ga.-Buford-Benedict) took fourth in the triple jump (12.05 meters).
Natalie Burtaczuk placed fifth in the high jump with a personal best leap of 1.56 meters, Chevonne Wheeler (Redford, Mich.-Divine Child) was fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:02.74), Kyra Buffen (Columbus, Ga.-Buford-Benedict) placed fifth in the long jump (5.73 meters) and Mair Edwards (Basingstoke, England-The Costello School) placed fifth in the 400 meters (56.06).

» Five women posted personal bests while the men's 4x100 relay was the only personal best on the men's side.
» Johnson had the personal best of 42.62 meters in the discus, Gazaway had her PR of 13.58 in the 100 hurdles, Maleah Scott posted a personal best time of 26.88 in the 200 meters while in the field events Burtaczuk had a PR of 1.56 meters in the high jump and Nicole Bow posted a PR of 3.51 meters in the pole vault.
