JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf squad plays in the Atlanta area Monday and Tuesday at the Georgia State Invitational on the Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Ga. Competition in the two-day, three-round tournament will begin on Monday, March 27, with 36 holes of play, followed by the final round of play on Tuesday, March 28.
The Rivermont Golf Club course plays to a par-72 and a length of 6,225 yards.
The Eagles are joined in the field of 16 teams by Albany, Appalachian State, Bradley, Boston College, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Murray State, Seton Hall, Troy, and Western Carolina.
This will be the third consecutive year the event has taken place at Rivermont after the tournament spent 20 years at Eagle's Landing Country Club. The course hosted the 2021 Georgia Women's Senior Amateur.
Last year, Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) tallied a 54-hole tally of 233 (74-78-81) for 30th place at the event, March 29, 2022. As a team, EMU finished 14th, posting a score of 948 (312-321-315). Xavier came from behind to win the event by one stroke over Eastern Kentucky, posting a 909 (299-310-300).
In 2021, Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) took home a tie for 18th-place, as EMU finished 12th with a mark of 921 (308-306-307). Loberg, who turned in her fifth career top-20 performance, posted a 225 (76-73-76).
Head Coach Stephanie Jennings will use the lineup of sophomore Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota), senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School), Watson, sophomore Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) and senior Adeline Lau (Sa Rawak, Malaysia-SMK Bintulu-Michigan Dearborn).
