Eagles are set to open their inaugural season Feb. 16 against visiting Niagara

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team, which is heading into its inaugural season, has been voted to finish tied for sixth in the 2023 Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced, Feb. 7.
 
The Eagles, the newest member of the MAC, earned 13 points and shared the sixth position with the University of Detroit Mercy. Robert Morris University was selected to win the regular season crown with 46 points and four first-place votes while defending champion Central Michigan University is close behind with 43 points and the remaining three first-place votes.
 
Kent State University earned 32 points and sits third with Youngstown State University just behind in fourth place with 31 points. The University of Akron rounds out the top five with 18 points in fifth place.
 
The regular season champion will play host to the four-team MAC Tournament with the tournament champion earning the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
 
Eastern opens its inaugural season at home, Feb. 16, with a visit from the Purple Eagles of Niagara University. The game is slated for a noon first draw and will be played at Scicluna Field on campus.
