Eagles post season high scores on vault and beam in setback
DEKALB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team dropped a tight meet to Northern Illinois University, 195.350-195.050, inside the Convocation Center located on the campus of NIU Friday night, Feb. 17.
How It Happened
Eastern's first rotation took the team to the bars where the squad earned a 48.675 team score. Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) landed in the top spot among Eagles on the apparatus with a 9.800 performance, good for fourth place.
In the second rotation, the Eagles recorded a season-high 48.800 vault score. Boris, Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala.-Alabama Connections Academy), and Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) all posted team-high 9.825 scores on the event to tie for second overall. Boris and Fisher earned career bests with their vault performances tonight while Parris' mark was good for a season high.
Eastern Michigan's third rotation took the team to the floor where EMU registered a 48.500 score as both Boris and Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) led the Eagles with 9.775 scores.
The Green and White finished on the beam with a season-high event tally of 49.100. Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) matched her season high with an impressive 9.925 on beam for first place overall. Cassie Bergin (Islip Terrace, N.Y.-East Islip) and Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla.-Park Vista) also notched career bests on beam with 9.800 scores.
