Track and Field set for Silverston Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete at the Silverston Invitational at the University of Michigan, Friday at 4 p.m.
Last season at the Silverston Invitational, the Eagles took home five individual championships.
LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles men's and women's teams posted 19 personal bests last weekend as the team competed at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet, the David Hemery Invitational at Boston University and sent a pair of runners to the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson University.
The Eagles had four top-five finishes at the GVSU Big Meet Friday night on the men's side as Newlyn Stephenson (Gary, Ind.-Bowman Leadership Academy) won the weight throw (22.51 meters), Eddie Zuercher (Rocky River, Ohio-Rocky River) ran a personal best of 8:24.30 to place second in the early section of the 3,000 meters, Dahndray Holmes (Clarksville, Tenn.-Rossview-Highland CC) placed third in the long jump (6.25 meters) and Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich.-Charlevoix) ran a personal-best time of 4:11.56 to place fifth in the mile.
Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield South) had a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the women's team. Cadwell had a pair of top ten finishes in the invite portion of the meet as she placed fifth in the weight throw (17.91 meters) and eighth in the shot put (13.05 meters).
The women posted five personal bests while the men had a trio of personal bests at the Big Meet.
The David Hemery Valentine Open saw the women record nine top-five finishes and post six personal bests led by Angel Gazaway (Cincinnati, Ohio-Princeton), who was second in the 60 meter hurdles (8.56) and Kilani Harvey (Orlando, Fla.-Jones) who finished second in the 60 meters (7.59).
In the field events, Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich.-L'anse Creuse) was fourth in the high jump (1.68 meters) while Kyra Buffen (Columbus, Ga.-Buford-Benedict) took fifth in both the triple jump (12.09 meters) and the long jump with a personal best jump of 5.72 meters to round out the top five performances for the women's team.
On the men's side, Eric Haddock Jr. (Raleigh, N.C.-Southeast Raleigh-Appalachian State) won the long jump with a leap of 7.25 meters and took fourth in the triple jump (14.53 meters) to lead the Eagles.
Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne) had a personal best and took second in the high jump (2.09 meters), losing in a jump off for the championship while Kaleb Simpson (Bexley, Ohio-St. Charles Preparatory) posted a personal best time of 21.89 to place eighth in the 200 meters and five Eagles posted personal bests.
The Eagles also sent a pair of runners to Clemson as Yvan Lopes Riberio (Nice, France-Lycee Honore d'Estiennes d'Orves - American International) took 13th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 7.82 while Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md.-Digital Harbor-Barton C.C.) was 17th in 7.97.
