2024 Lacrosse Schedule
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The second season of Eastern Michigan University lacrosse will feature a 16-game schedule, including six home games, Head Coach Sara Tisdale announced today, Nov. 30. The Eagles, who are coming off a 2-14 inaugural season in 2023, are slated to play four games against teams that competed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament while facing three teams for the first time.
"Opening our 2024 season against Notre Dame, who will likely be ranked in the preseason top 10, captures the mentality of this team; we're ready," Tisdale said. "The 2024 schedule provides us with an opportunity to show just how far our program has come. Adding Lafayette, Duquesne, and Howard to our non-conference slate will provide our team with a great challenge and opportunity to demonstrate that growth. The non-conference opponents we will face will prepare us for conference play to be a contender for the 2024 MAC Championship."
Schedule Notes
» Eastern's 2024 schedule will feature 16 games, including six at home, and one neutral site game with the University of Michigan at to-be-named high school in the Detroit Public Schools Community District as part of the team's Grow Our Game initiative.
» The Eagles will face four teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament in 2023, including the University of Notre Dame (quarterfinals), Marquette University (first round), Michigan (second round), and conference rival Central Michigan University (first round). The game with CMU is the only home game among those four opponents.
» Eastern will face three teams for the first time in program history, all on the road, including Duquesne University, Howard University, and Lafayette College.
» The Eagles open their season Feb. 9 at Notre Dame and open their home slate Feb. 22 with Winthrop University coming to Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti.
» Mid-American Conference action opens for Eastern March 24 with a visit to the University of Akron before playing host to Kent State University, March 31, in its home MAC opener.
» The top four teams in the league standings will compete in the MAC Championship, scheduled for May 2 and May 4. The regular season champion will earn the tournament's top seed and will play host to the two-day tournament that will see the winner earn the league's automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles will open the year with several tests, including welcoming Grand Valley State University to town, Jan. 28, for an exhibition game with the Lakers, who reached the semifinals of the 2023 NCAA Division II Tournament. When the season starts, Feb. 9, EMU will venture to South Bend, Ind., to take on the Fighting Irish in a 7:30 p.m. start. The following week, the Eagles will head to Pittsburg, Pa., for its first meeting with Duquesne in a 3 p.m. start, Feb. 15.
Following the two road games to open the season, EMU will open its home slate, Feb. 22, in a battle of the Eagles with Winthrop coming to town for a noon game. From there, Eastern returns to the road for three consecutive games, starting Feb. 25 in Washington, D.C., to take on Howard before heading to Dover, Del., to meet with the Hornets of Delaware State University. The three-game swing ends March 9 in Easton, Pa., where the Eagles will face the Leopards of Lafayette.
EMU returns home, March 15, with a visit from the Butler University Bulldogs, the first of back-to-back games against members of the Big East. The second game comes two days later on the road in Milwaukee, Wis., against Marquette. One week later, the Eagles remain on the road as they jump into league action at Akron, March 24, before returning home, March 31, to welcome the Golden Flashes of Kent State for EMU's home MAC opener.
A busy April gets underway with back-to-back games in the Motor City, starting April 3 as the Battle of Washtenaw County moves into Detroit as the Wolverines and Eagles will meet at a two-be-determined high school within the Detroit Public Schools Community District. The game is part of the program's Grow Our Game initiative, which is designed to introduce the game to communities throughout the state that have little exposure to lacrosse. The second game will see the Eagles take on the Titans of the University of Detroit Mercy, April 7, at UDM.
Three of the final four games on the regular season schedule will be played at home, starting April 14 with defending MAC champion Central Michigan coming to town for a 10:30 a.m. contest. Three days later, April 17, the Eagles will take on Xavier University, who, like EMU, was a first-year program in 2023.
