YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell in three-straight sets to the Falcons of Bowling Green State University inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center today, Oct. 26.

Callie Minshew (Brandon, Miss./Brandon/Mississippi State) finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Eagles offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .265. The Green and White saw 17 digs from Emma McMahon (Monroeville, Ind./Bellmont) to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-17. EMU trailed by as many as eight points as Bowling Green grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up four times before the Falcons took control.

SET 2 | A 27-25 second-set loss put Eastern behind 2-0 in the match. The Eagles fell in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured six lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team led by more than three points along the way.

SET 3 | Bowling Green finished the sweep with a set-three victory. The Green and White couldn't endure a furious Bowling Green rally, falling 25-22 after leading by eight points at 13-5 earlier in the set.

Match Notes
» In the second set against Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan took the Falcons to extra points but ultimately dropped the set by a score of 27-25. It marked the 10th set this season that EMU and its opponent have prolonged a set.
» Ava Siefke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) recorded a team-leading and career-high four aces in the loss. It was the second time in which the freshman has recorded multiple service aces in a match this season after posting her previous career-high two against Western Michigan University, Oct. 20. The last time an Eagle recorded four aces in a single match was when Howard accomplished the feat at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Sept. 15.
» Howard led the team in digs with 17. It marked the freshman's 14th double-digit dig performance of the season. Howard is one of only two underclassmen to be listed in the top-10 rankings for digs/set as she ranked ninth prior to the match joining the University of Akron's Vanessa Del Real who ranked eighth with 3.82 digs/set prior to tonights match.
» After her two service aces against the Falcons, Minshew sits just seven service aces away from hitting her career-milestone mark of 100 serving aces. The graduate student has registered a single service ace in 15-of-24 matches played this season and leads the team with 23 total aces.
» As a team, Eastern Michigan recorded seven total blocks in the loss to the Falcons. It was the 11th time this season in which the Eagles have tallied at least seven total blocks. Additionally, the seven topped BGSU's six total blocks marking the team's seventh match out-blocking its opponent.

Historical Notes
» Dating back to 1977, the Eagles have taken 26 victories in the 66 matchups between the two schools. Despite BGSU's two victories in the start of the series, the Green and White dominated from 1979-1981 with four-straight wins. However, EMU's longest win-streak of five matches came later between 2002-05.
