The Nice, France native earned three wins at the Notre Dame Invitational, Jan. 21
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University men's track and field student-athlete Yvan Lopes Ribeiro (Nice, France-Lycée Honoré d'Estiennes d'Orves-American International) has been selected the Mid-American Conference Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today, Jan. 25.
Lopes Ribeiro was outstanding for Eastern Michigan as the team dominated at the Notre Dame Invitational, Jan. 21. As a team, Eastern won in convincing fashion, besting the second-place finisher, Southern Illinois, by 51 points.
Eastern was led by Lopes Ribeiro, who finished the day with three event victories. On the track, Lopes Ribeiro put forth his best-ever 60m Hurdle performance, setting a personal-record time of 7.78 seconds, which also goes down as the No. 6 performance in EMU school history. Additionally, his effort is the 14th-best by any student-athlete in the NCAA this season.
In the long jump, Lopes Ribeiro was equally as impressive. His winning effort of 7.47m was also the sixth-best effort in program history. He also won the triple jump with an effort of 14.96m.
