Eagles Fall in Season Opener at Arizona State

Chemotti's 9.850 good for first place on beam

TEMPE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team opened up its 2023 season with a third place finish at the Arizona State University Triangular in Tempe, Ariz. Friday night. The Eagles finished with a 192.150 team score behind Arizona State and UC Davis.
Sophomore Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) took first place on beam with a 9.850 to highlight competition for the Eagles.
How It Happened
The Eagles began the night on floor where the team earned its best event score of the night, a 48.525. Senior Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) and junior Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) led the event for EMU, both scoring a 9.775 to tie for fifth place overall.
On Eastern's second rotation, the Green and White scored 47.800 on vault. Senior Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) recorded a 9.725 on the apparatus for the top spot among Eagles.
EMU's third rotation took the team to bars where the Eagles grabbed a 47.825 event score. Boris recorded a 9.850, Eastern's top meet score, for fourth place overall in the event. Freshman Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla.-Park Vista) made her collegiate debut for the Eagles on bars, recording a 9.775 to tie for ninth.

Sophomore Cassie Bergin (Islip Terrace, N.Y.-East Islip) also made her collegiate debut for the Green and White on beam, scoring a 9.625.
