Eagles set to open fall scrimmage season Sept. 17 at Grand Valley
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse program is set for its inaugural 'Fall Ball' slate with five dates appearing on the fall scrimmage schedule that was announced by Head Coach Sara Tisdale Sept. 8. The Eagles, who will play their inaugural collegiate regular season in 2023, will play two single games in the state of Michigan before venturing out for three 'Play Days' in October.
The first chance for fans to see the Eagles in action comes Saturday, Sept. 17, when Eastern heads to Allendale, Mich., for a 10:30 a.m. single game scrimmage with Grand Valley State University. The Lakers are one of two NCAA Division II teams the Eagles will face this fall with GVSU coming off a season in which it was one win shy of the NCAA Final Four.
The second contest on the slate will also mark the first time fans can see Eastern in action on its home turf as the University of Detroit Mercy visits Scicluna Field on Sunday, Sept. 25. The game between the Eagles and their soon-to-be Mid-American Conference rival Titans is set to start at 2:30 p.m. and fans are welcome to attend the game free of charge.
October will see the Eagles travel to events in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana where they will play two or three games each trip, depending upon the day. The month opens in Cincinnati, Ohio, with Eastern taking part in the University of Cincinnati's Play Day Saturday, Oct. 1. The Eagles will play against both the host Bearcats and the University of Indianapolis, the defending NCAA Division II Champions, with action getting underway at 11:10 a.m. in the Queen City.
Two weeks later, Eastern will head to Louisville, Ky., for the University of Louisville's Play Day Oct. 15. The Eagles will meet the Cardinals, the Bearcats, and the Owls of Kennesaw State University that day with the first game set for a 10 a.m. start. The final event will take place Oct. 23, in Indianapolis, Ind., with Eastern, UIndy, Butler University, and Marquette University all taking part. The location and start time for the first game of the day will be announced at a later date.
