GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – With the sun shining upon American Dunes Golf Club, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team showed improvement in the middle round of the 54-hole tournament to position itself in 15th at the 2022 Folds of Honor Collegiate, Sept. 27. EMU improved by one stroke from yesterday with a 317 for a two-day mark of 635 on the par 72, 7,128-yard setup.
No. 8-ranked Illinois carded the lowest team score of round 2 - an 11-under 277 - to surge past first-round leader, No. 14 Florida State, and build an 11-stroke lead heading into Wednesday's final round. Meanwhile, Florida State's Brett Roberts and Liberty's Jonathan Yaun closed the second round tied for the individual lead at six-under.
Six schools compiled lower rounds than they did in round one, including Arizona, Kansas, NC State, UCLA, Eastern Michigan, and Virginia Union.
How It Happened
Junior Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) continues to pace the EMU attack with a 153 (72-81) in a tie for 43rd. Freshman Ryan Somerville (Aurora, Ontario-Aurora) posted the best round of the day at 75 to tie for 48th with a 154 (79-75). Senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) and freshman Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta-HJ Cody) are tied for 80th at 165. Freshman Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio-Elder) rounded out the scoring with a 167 (86-81).
