GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is back in the state of Michigan for the inaugural Folds of Honor Collegiate, Sept. 26-28, at the par-72, 7,128-yard American Dunes Golf Club. The three-day event is being hosted by the Golf Coaches Association of America, Michigan State University, and the Folds of Honor Foundation with proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor and the GCAA Presidential Scholarship Fund.
The 54-hole tournament will be played over three days with 18 holes slated for each day of competition. Tee times for Rounds 1 and 2, on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday's final round tee times are set for 8:30 a.m.
The schedule for the week will also include opening ceremonies at 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, and closing ceremonies at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The tournament field features 18 programs highlighted by four currently ranked inside the top 50 by Golfweek: Air Force, (32) Arizona, Army, Central Michigan, Clemson, Eastern Michigan, (14) Florida State, Grand Valley State, (8) Illinois, Kansas, Liberty, Michigan State, Navy, NC State, (41) Oregon State, Texas Southern, UCLA, and Virginia Union.
Annually, the field at the Folds of Honor Collegiate will feature two HBCU programs. This reflects the 41 percent of Folds of Honor recipients that are minorities and the GCAA and Black Golf Coaches Association of America partnership to help grow opportunities for HBCU and black college golf.
American Dunes Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course that is a tribute to the military and commemorates the birthplace of Folds of Honor. The facility, which is located a few hundred yards from the east shore of Lake Michigan, is a dunes-like course, utilizing the dramatic local topography and sand base that covers the property. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,213 yards and has rolling and generous fairways.
EMU will use the lineup of senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada), freshman Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta-HJ Cody), freshman Ryan Somerville (Aurora, Ontario-Aurora), junior Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston), and freshman Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio-Elder).
