Two boats raced in four, two-kilometer races this morning
BELLEVILLE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan women's rowing team began its fall campaign with a dual race against the University of Michigan today, Sept. 11 on Belleville Lake in Belleville, Mich. This morning's contest marked the sixth time in seven years the Eagles and the Wolverines have met to kick off their fall slates.
The regatta, which was considered a scrimmage by both teams, saw two boats race in four separate two-kilometer races.
POST RACE QUOTES
"This was a really great chance to get out and check on our preparation for the fall season," said Head Coach Kemp Savage. "We identified some places we need to be more focused, and some habits that need to be more consistent. Now, we are looking forward to our first official race of the season in Wisconsin in two weeks."
"Racing a ranked team like Michigan two weeks into the season gives our team a good idea of where we are at, where we need to be, and the work we need to put in to reach our full potential," junior Laura Borchers (Troy, Ohio-Troy) said. "I think today was not only a great learning experience for all of us but also a good preparation for our first official race at Wisconsin in two weeks."
