The Eagles competed in two, 3K races
MADISON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University rowing team continued its fall campaign with a dual race against the University of Wisconsin Saturday, Sept. 24, on Lake Mendota in Madison, Wis.
The regatta, which was considered a scrimmage between the two squads, featured four different boats competing in two seperate 3K races.
Last season, the Eagles raced the Badgers in two, 4K races and four additional 1K races on Sept. 25.
POST RACE QUOTES
"We had some good racing in all four boats today. We were able to make switches, got a couple good results in 1K races," said Head Coach Kemp Savage. "We needed to get some side by side racing and Wisconsin was exactly what we needed to prepare for the Head of Charles."
"I think today was a good test, my crew as well as the others have had some long pieces these past few weeks and I think our work showed up today," said sophomore Arden Schirru (Welland, Ontario-E.L. Crossley Secondary School). "We stayed calm, pushed hard, and I think the team left with a positive mindset moving forward to the rest of our season. We're excited to go fast and hold ourselves to a new standard against other fast teams."
