CommUniversitE Night Returns As EMU Opens 2022 Season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern fans, we're just days away from the start of the 2022 football season and opening the doors to Rynearson Stadium. EMU's season-opener, set for Friday, Sept. 2 against Eastern Kentucky University, will be celebrated as CommUniversitE Night. Presented by EMU's proud corporate partner, DTE, CommUniversitE Night is a family-centric event that will showcase and celebrate the people who make our university and community a special place to live, work, and learn.
Prior to kickoff, fans can enjoy a petting zoo as well as pony rides on the front lawn of the stadium. The petting zoo is free and will be open following Eagle Walk (the football team's arrival), which takes place in front of The Factory approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff.
Additionally, the gameday experience will contain interactive displays from DTE, Fowling Warehouse, Crunch Fitness, and more!
Once fans enter Rynearson Stadium they will have the opportunity to enjoy inflatable games in the kid's zone, face painting, and a photo zone with props that look identical to the wall and sledgehammers that the EMU football team uses for their entrance to the game.
Fans can hit the concession stands or food trucks prior to heading to their seats to take in the sounds of the Pride of the Peninsula, the EMU Marching Band, who will be performing pregame, at halftime, and following the game. Furthermore, once the live eagle mascot flies into the stadium during the national anthem it will be available for pictures with fans on the concourse.
EMU students are encouraged to sign up for Eagle Nation, the official student organization. It's free to sign up and members can earn great prizes just for attending Eastern Athletic events. Eastern students get into all regular season home events for free with their Eagle Nation membership or student ID.
Fans will also want to stay in their seats for another showing of "The Eastern Lights" between the third and fourth quarters. The LED lightshow set to music will also be accompanied by pyrotechnics throughout the game.
