Eastern Rowing to Hold Open Tryouts

No experience is necessary to attend tryouts to be held from Sept. 7 to Sept 20.
YPSILANTI, Mich.(EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University rowing Assistant Coach/Head Novice Coach Nicole Marek announced the program will hold open tryouts, today, Aug. 23. No previous rowing experience is necessary to attend tryouts, which will be held from Sept. 7 to Sept 20.
"The Eastern Michigan rowing team would like to invite you to take part in our open tryouts this fall," said Marek. "We are looking for athletes who are excited about trying something new and looking to make new friends on campus. Our team will teach you everything you need to know and have you rowing on Ypsilanti's beautiful Ford Lake."
Informational Zoom meetings will be held on Aug. 29 and Aug. 31 at 6:30. To receive the Zoom information, fill out the questionnaire found here.
"The novice rowers from last year had a substantial impact on our varsity team this past spring, helping us finish third in our conference last May," Marek said. "I'm really excited for tryouts this fall and continue to build off the momentum of last year."
Prior to trying out, potential student-athletes must:
- Bring proof of a medical physical by a physician within the last 6 months
- Bring proof of health insurance and a copy of the insurance card (front and back)
- Must fully complete the initial health appraisal and provide relevant medical records
- Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at Eastern Michigan University
- Must adhere to Eastern Michigan University's COVID protocols
