Men’s Golf Has Five Named to Academic All-MAC Team

EMU was tied for the MAC lead with five student-athletes honored
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team saw five of its student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, the league office announced today, June 1.
Seniors Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) and Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada -Mayfield Secondary) collected the honor for the third time, while senior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) and sophomore Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) picked up their second academic distinction from the conference. Sophomore MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago) also garnered the honor for the first time.
Eastern Michigan, Miami and Toledo led the way with five honorees apiece. Ohio followed with a total of four selections on the team.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
