Rowing Earns Three Wins on Senior Day

The Eagles' 1V8, 1V4, and 2V4 boats won their races on Ford Lake

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team picked up three wins against the University of Dayton on Ford Lake today, May 1. The program also celebrated seniors Priscilla Brom (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford), Anna Eschenburg (Bruce Twsp., Mich.-Romeo), Brianna Gracey (Dayton, Ohio-Chaminade Julienne), Mary Hemgesberg (Freeland, Mich.-Freeland), Brynne Harder (Fenwick, Mich.-Saranac), Caitlin Rodanhisler (Hopkins, Mich.-Hopkins), and Carly Szymanski (Toledo, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy).
How It Happened
EMU's Second Varsity Four boat opened up the morning with a win, finishing the 2,000-meter race in 8:28.28. In the next race, the Flyers had a late push to edge Eastern's 2V8 crew, 7:22.25 to 7:22.82. The Green and White's 1V4 team finished first in its competition with a time of 8:49.49, creating a gap of 16.71 seconds. Eastern Michigan's 1V8 boat recorded the fastest time on the day, clocking in at 7:13.12. EMU's 3V8 wrapped up the morning with a time of 8:41.66 for second.

"We had some good results especially with some last-minute switches due to illness. It was really good to see speed starting to develop in the 4's. Now we are going to hit the push for CAAs."
