EMU Track & Field Gains Experience in Friday Meets

The Eagles will wrap up busy weekend tomorrow with triple-meet day
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field team was split up with Eagles participating at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational, Tennessee Relays, and Golden Grizzlies Invite tonight, April 8.
How It Happened
In the Sunshine State, freshman Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio-Wayne) paced the men's team in the high jump with a clearance of 1.97m, while junior Nina Ward (Fairfield, Ohio-Fairfield) led the women at 1.62m.
At the Tennessee Relays, seniors Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica-Immaculate Conception) and Chukwusom Enekwechi (Valley Stream, N.Y.-Jamaica Gateway to the Sciences (Monroe College)) finished seventh (13.90m) and eighth (16.54m) in the shot put invitational, respectively.
Meanwhile, back in the Mitten State, junior Chevonne Wheeler (Redford, Mich.-Divine Child) and freshman Maleah Scott (Farmington, Minn.-Farmington) both competed in their first heptathlon. In the competition, Wheeler took first in the 200m dash (26.44) to place third overall through four events. Meanwhile, Scott currently sits in seventh, besting her high jump (1.42m) and shot put (9.53m) from the indoor season.
