YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team wrapped up a busy weekend on Ford Lake with a regatta against Duquesne University today, April 3.
The Eagles embraced the cold morning, winning three out of five races against the Dukes. Eastern's 1V8+ boat recorded the fastest time of the day, clocking in at 7:04.88 to top Duquesne's 7:27.08 time. The Green and White's 2V8+ crew proved resilient as well, crossing the finish line in 7:23.52 to win by 8.15 seconds. EMU also saw a win from its Novice Eight team (8:42.87), which finished nearly a full minute faster than the Duke's boat (9:42.54). Eastern Michigan's 3V8 (8:18.3) and 1V4 (8:26.19) took second in their respective races.
Quoting Head Coach Kemp Savage
"We had a good weekend this weekend. We need to keep consistency on race day. The 2V8 had a great race yesterday, and the 1V8 had a great race today so we need to start putting those together, once we get that we will be a tough team to line up against."
