Track & Field Concludes California Trip

AZUSA/WALNUT, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program wrapped up its time at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays yesterday, April 16.

"It was a productive trip for us," said Director/Head Coach Sue Parks. "In addition to some strong performances, we gained valuable experience that will help us down the road. It was great to get back to California to compete again."

"The group came out with a mission to run well and that created a lot of positive energy for the program," added Assistant Coach Mark Rinker. "I was really excited for Solo, we've seen this breakthrough coming for a while. Toby with a big PR in the 10,000 and Josh with another PR at 5,000. Vinny obliviously showed why he's one of the best runners in Eastern History. We still have a lot of work to do, but we are excited for it."

How It Happened
Senior Quintella Johnson (Las Vegas, Nev.-Saint Mary's (Texas Southern)) leaped to a season-best high jump mark of 1.70m at the Mt. SAC Relays. Up the road in Azusa, Calif., junior Lexi Seifert (Waterford, Pa.-Villa Maria Academy) ran the 1500m race in 4:40.28, also a season-best.
