EMU Throwers Record Strong Showing on Day One of Spartan Invitational

Kadian Clarke and Ariel Floyd go 1-2 in hammer throw competition
EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field team wrapped up day No. 1 of the Spartan Invitational today, April 1, at the Ralph Young Track and Field Facility.
How It Happened
The Eagles had a great showing in the women's hammer throw as seniors Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica-Immaculate Conception) and Ariel Floyd (Mount Clemens, Mich.-Chippewa Valley (Olivet)) finished first (55.64m) and second (54.02m), respectively. Additionally, sophomore Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield South) recorded a personal-best mark of 50.47m in the event.
Junior Newlyn Stephenson (Gary, Ind.-Thea Bowman Leadership Academy) was the top collegiate competitor in the men's hammer throw, finishing second overall with a toss of 63.96m, .01 meters off from tying his career-high. Senior Chukwusom Enekwechi (Valley Stream, N.Y.-Jamaica Gateway to the Sciences (Monroe College)) notched a career-best mark in the event with a 55.61m effort.
