BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) recorded his 23rd career top-25 finish Tuesday, March 8, at the at Colleton River Collegiate. The Long Sault, Ontario closed with a one-under 70 to finish the prestigious event with a 215 (71-74-70). The two-day mark is tied for his lowest 54 hole tally of the season, equaling his previous outing at the Wexford Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-22.
As a team, Eastern finished in 11th with a season-low tally of 876 (294-295-287) at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Colleton River Club. In a field that featured four top-45 teams, Georgia State won the event with a 30-under 834 (278-282-274). Cincinnati was second (843) followed by Kansas State (844), No. 36 Ohio State (847), and No. 28 Michigan State (849).
How It Happened
After Celone's 215, sophomore Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) added an EMU-best score of 219 (76-71-72) in 35th. Sophomore Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) tied for 44th with a season-low 221 (71-75-75).
Senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) turned in scores of 76, 75, and 74 for a 225 in 56th. Fellow senior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) rounded out the day with a 71 for a 228 (71-76-71) in a tie for 66th.
