JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) tallied a 54-hole tally of 233 (74-78-81) for 30th place on the final day of the Georgia State Invitational, March 29. For Watson, it marked the 11th time in her young career she has finished inside the top-30 at a tournament.
Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson won the event with an even-par 216 (71-75-70) on the par 72, 6,225-yard Rivermont Golf Club setup.
As a team, Eastern Michigan finished 14th at the 16-team competition, posting a score of 948 (312-321-315). Xavier came from behind to win the event by one stroke over Eastern Kentucky, posting a 909 (299-310-300).
How It Happened
Watson tallied five birdies and 31 pars over the course of the three rounds for the Eagles. Meanwhile, freshman Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) tied for 42nd with a two-day cumulative of 237 (81-78-78). She notched par-or-better at 37 of the 54 holes played for the event.
Classmate Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) saved her best for last to card a 76 for a 239 (81-82-76) in a tie for 50th. Junior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) tied for 70th with a 247 (74-83-80) and sophomore Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin) finished tied for 78th at 250 (76-89-85). Participating as an individual, sophomore Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy) turned in rounds of 88, 79, and 84 to sit in 80th with a three round score of 251.
