JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf squad plays in the Atlanta area Monday and Tuesday at the Georgia State Invitational on the Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Ga. Competition in the two-day, three-round tournament will begin on Monday, March 28, with 36 holes of play, followed by the final round of play on Tuesday, March 29.
The Rivermont Golf Club course plays to a par-72 and a length of 6,225 yards.
The Eagles are joined in the field of 14 teams by Arkansas State, Boston College, Dayton, Georgia State, Houston Baptist, Jacksonville State, Little Rock, Lipscomb, Oral Roberts, ULM, Seton Hall, Winthrop, Xavier.
This will be the second consecutive year the event has taken place at Rivermont after the tournament spent 20 years at Eagle's Landing Country Club. The course hosted the 2021 Georgia Women's Senior Amateur last summer.
In 2021, junior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) took home a tie for 18th-place, as EMU finished 12th with a mark of 921 (308-306-307). Loberg, who turned in her fifth career top-20 performance, posted a 225 (76-73-76). Samantha Vodry of High Point took home medalist honors with a five-under 211 (72-68-71).
Xavier rolled to the team title with a total of 882 (297-286-299). Kennesaw State finished as the runner up (885) while Jacksonville State (887), Georgia State (895) and Little Rock (895) rounded out the top five.
Head Coach Stephanie Jennings will use the same lineup again of sophomore Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland), freshman Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota), sophomore Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich.-Livonia Franklin), Loberg, and freshman Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School). Sophomore Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio-St. Ursula Academy) will again be taking part in the event as an individual competitor.
