Faith Rono records sixth-best 5000m time in program history with 16:38.89 performance

RALEIGH, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program saw its distance runners excel on the second day of the Raleigh Relays tonight, March 25, on the Paul Derr Track.
How It Happened
Junior Faith Rono (Eldoret, Kenya-Middle Tennessee State) showcased her athleticism in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 16:38.89. The effort places her sixth all-time in school history. Meanwhile, sophomore Esme Davies (Lake District, England-Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) had a solid outing in her first collegiate outdoor meet where she also competed in the 5000m race, sporting a 17:24.37 time in the event.
Senior Solomon Costa (Gahanna, Ohio-Gahanna Lincoln) had a career-best day as well, registering a 9:11.80 performance in the 3000m steeplechase. Coming into the meet, Costa's fastest time in the event was 9:35.42, set at the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships, May 10.
