Sofia Ivanko records fourth-best 10,000m time in program history
RALEIGH, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The distance runners of Eastern Michigan University's track & field team produced three personal-best times on the first day of the Raleigh Relays today, March 24, on the Paul Derr Track.
Junior Sofia Ivanko (Buenos Aires, Argentina-St. Matthew's College) highlighted the day by producing a career-best time of 35:15.15 in the 10,000m race. Moreover, Ivanko's time is the fourth-best in program history. Previously, the junior's best time in the event was 36:18.70, set at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships, May 7.
Sophomore Marcus Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario-St. Mary's Kitchener (Providence)) registered a personal-best 1500m time of 3:50.97, topping his 3:58.00 set at the Raleigh Relays in 2019. Later in the day, classmate Josh Hill (Amherst, Ohio-Amherst Steel) also notched a PR, completing the 5000m in 14:16.49.
