The harrier finished 14th with a time of 8:04.77 in 3000m final
BELGRADE, Serbia (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field program was well-represented at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships as junior Baldvin Magnusson (Akureyri, Iceland-Hull University) competed in the men's 3000m final today, March 20.
"I'm proud of Vinny," said Assistant Coach Mark Rinker. "He raced hard all weekend and I'm proud of the way he put himself in the race with no fear. He will take the lessons learned this weekend and keep getting better. He represented himself, Iceland, and Eastern well this weekend!"
How It Happened
Magnusson finished 14th in the race with a time of 8:04.77 against elite company. The harrier's time was nearly 16 seconds faster than his effort at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships where he crossed the finish line in 8:20.72, Feb. 26. Additionally, 8:04.77 would have placed the junior 11th at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this year.
Meanwhile, yesterday at the championships, former Eagle Donald Scott earned bronze in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 17.21m. Additionally, volunteer coach Tori Franklin also competed in the triple jump, finishing in 13th with a leap of 13.89m this morning.
