YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished sixth at the Mid-American Conference Championships with a team score of 195.025 Saturday, March 19.
 
"Today was fun and exciting," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "We fell short of our team goal but we have some great performances. Proud of Ella as MAC Bar Champ and Freshman of the Year, as well as Caitlin's third place on floor. Raisa also had a great all-around performance."
 
How It Happened
After a first-round bye, Eastern started on floor where it scored a 48.925. Senior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Sandburg) led the group, tying her season-best with a 9.875 performance. Sophomores Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) and Anna Grace McCullough (Birmingham, Ala.-Briarwood Christian) both chipped in scores of 9.825.

The Eagles enjoyed a break in the third rotation before heading to vault. The lineup was paced by graduate student Cali Harden (Superior Twp., Mich.-Saline) who earned a score of 9.775 to give the Green and White a total of 48.575 on the apparatus. With floor and vault complete, EMU owned a team total of 97.500 at the halfway mark.

Rotation No. 6 saw Eastern bounce back with a 48.925 effort on bars. Freshman Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) highlighted the apparatus with a career-high 9.900 to top the group, and tie for first on the event. Additionally, Boris added a score of 9.825 as the Eagles moved on to beam.

The Green and White wrapped up the meet with a score of 48.600 in the final rotation. Boris and junior Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) led the way on beam, both scoring 9.850.

Boris finished third in the all-around competition with a meet total of 38.950, a personal best for the Brooklyn Park, Minn. native. Junior Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) also competed all-around, scoring 38.500, which tied for eighth.

» Chemotti became the first Eagle to be named MAC Freshman of the Year since Zu Vuong earned the honor in 2006.
» The Canton, Mich. native is also the first EMU bars champion since Catie Conrad, Natalie Gervais, and Lacey Rubin all tied for first in 2017.
