EMU Gymnastics Earns Season-Best 195.200 at GW Quad, Placing Third

The Eagles recorded a season-high 49.100 on bars with three individual career-bests

WASHINGTON, D.C. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed third in the George Washington Quad meet with a season-best 195.200 today, Feb. 6. The host, George Washington University, took home first (196.025), followed by Kent State University (195.600), while LIU (193.575) placed fourth.
"Today was a fun day," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "The team had each other's backs and pulled together. Floor and bars were much better and we look forward to putting it all together in two weeks."
How It Happened
Eastern started the day on floor, posting a season-high 48.972 to sit in second after the first rotation. The Eagles were led by senior Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) who scored a season-best 9.850, and tied for fourth place. On vault, EMU posted a score of 48.425 as senior Cali Harden (Superior Twp.-Saline) topped the lineup, earning 9.775. The Green and White were in third place at the halfway point of the meet, totaling 97.400.
Three career-best efforts helped lift Eastern Michigan to a season-high 49.100 on bars in the third rotation. Sophomore Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) scored 9.875, tying for second, while freshman Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) earned 9.850 for and tied in fourth. The other personal-best came from sophomore Jordan Jankowski (Frisco, Texas-Independence), who earned a 9.750. The Eagles trailed Kent State 146.500- 146.525, as the two teams battled for second place. EMU finished on beam with a 48.700, enough to reach a season-high overall score of 195.200. Chemotti led the Eagles for the third consecutive meet on the apparatus, scoring 9.850 and claiming first. The Eagles season-best score slotted them in third place.
