The Eagles' vault lineup earns 49.150 tying for the second-highest in program history

TOWSON, Md. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed third with an overall score of 194.575 at the Towson Quad today, Feb. 4. The host, Towson University, claimed first (196.700), followed by Temple University (194.650), while LIU placed fourth (193.350). 
 
"The team had some great points tonight," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "Vault and beam really stepped it up. Looking to find our groove on Sunday, and put it all together."
 
How It Happened
Eastern started the quad on floor, scoring 48.000, led by junior Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) who earned 9.825, tying for eighth place. The Eagles picked it up on vault, scoring a season-high 49.150, which ties for the second-highest all-time on the apparatus in school history. The Green and White saw three personal-best scores as senior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) hit a 9.850, while sophomore Anna Grace McCullough (Birmingham, Ala.-Briarwood Christian) and freshman Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) both scored 9.800 on the night. EMU sat in second place with a team total of 97.150 after two rotations.
 
After the halfway point in the meet, Eastern scored 48.375 on bars. McCullough topped the Eagles lineup with a 9.750 as EMU remained in second with an overall score of 145.525. Eastern closed out the meet on beam, scoring another season-high, 49.000. Chemotti topped the beam squad with a 9.925, tying for first. The Green and White finished with a team-total 194.575, claiming third in the meet.

Historical Notes
» Eastern Michigan tied the second-highest vault score in program history, 49.150, the third time EMU has hit the score. Previously, the team hit the total against Ball State, March 15, 2003, and at Bowling Green with SEMO, Feb. 13, 2016.
